Due to the
high population in India, there is a large gap between the required and the
available qualified healthcare personnel. Therefore there is a great potential
for the students who are obtaining the B. Pharm degree in the healthcare system.
After the implementation of the GATT Act it is necessary to obtain patents in
the field of medicine. In India, the efforts made in this area till today are
insufficient. Thus, the individuals possessing B. Pharm Degree have lot of
opportunity in the area of research and development pertaining to designing of
new drugs and formulations. After the Dhaval Revolution in India, most of the
lives of poor farmers are dependent on the domestic animals. The design and
development of the veterinary medicines is still insufficient.
In India, there are about 165 B. Pharm Colleges. Out of which, 72 colleges are in Maharashtra. In most of these colleges there is lack of qualified teaching staff in D. Pharm colleges and the minimum qualifications required for a lecturer in these colleges is B. Pharm. A lot of opportunities are available as a lecturer in the academic field. The post graduate students may engage in the activities related to development of new drug delivery system of drugs in modern medicine and therapeutics. This will help in bringing out formulations of novel and life saving drugs.
Pharmacy as academic discipline makes for an enriching learning experience as it perfectly combines technology and heathcare system. Its involvement is deep as it has an important role in all events: from discovery of new drug molecule to its evaluation, development, and approval for human consumption, manufacture and every other important aspect.
As people are becoming increasingly cautious about their health, pharmacy has been becoming more and more important to the extent of educating people about different medications. This growing importance of pharmacy has opened up a lot of career opportunities for pharmacy professionals. Continuous efforts are being made to ensure that the future is always bright for SCOP students and every challenge becomes an opportunity for them. The college lays emphasis on the Industry-Academic interactions and has visiting faculties from the Industry and healthcare services. The college has regular interactions with various professional bodies like IPA, IDMA, IGPA, APTI, OPPI, and ISTE etc.
